Change 7 - Organize Closets
->
I have decided to organize my closets. I have two closets - a small one in our master bedroom and an even smaller one at the end of our hallway (which I share with several items for our new baby).
Our house is a traditional ranch-style home, with small closets and limited storage space. Right now, I have shoes in two different places, clothes stuffed in drawers, and boxes of golf balls stacked on top of old magazines. I am a pretty organized person, but this closet-clutter is getting on my nerves. I’ll begin by getting rid of old clothes (and donating to the local goodwill) and then I’ll work on building a better system for organizing my stuff. It will take a few hours to do a ‘basic’ clean and a few days to fully implement the new organization system.

Good Luck! I’ll be forced to do something similar in the next little while as our new house doesn’t have much closet space. Keep us posted on the results - I’m curious to see what you do to optimize your space.

I have a huge problem, I moved from my last house that I had a closet that was 10 ft deep and rods on both sides, and double layered on top of that i.e. one at 3 ft one at 6 ft. Now I have soo much less space, about 1/3 of that, and it is a mess.
I think the thing that would help me the most is if I put somesort of cabinet/organizer shelf in there for some of the extra stuff.
Good Luck

I wish you well on this organizing adventure. Some clear storage boxes that you can stack may be helpful in the process. You might also consider (if you don’t already do this) storing the non-seasonal items in boxes in the attic or basement. Be sure to label the boxes so when the seasons begin to change you can quickly find appropriate clothing. Happy organizing!

Closets are definitely an issue for us as well. Good luck.
